The route around the Danube swim
The daily stages
Long-distance swimmer Joseph Hess is taking on a new extreme challenge: he is swimming the entire length of the Danube – around 2,850 km from its source to its mouth. Covering around 50 km a day, he plans to complete the journey in two months.
Accompanied by kayaks and a support team, Hess masters changing currents, shipping traffic, and climatic conditions. The tour takes him through ten countries and unique river landscapes—a sporting experience that pushes him to his limits and a journey along one of Europe's most important waterways.
